Map of school

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome back! We are excited to begin another school year full of opportunity, growth, and success. As always, the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. As we return, we want to make you aware of important construction, parking, and transportation updates that will affect our campus this year.

Please carefully review the attached overhead site map. The map uses color-coded zones to clearly indicate areas for construction, walking paths, student parking, and bus transportation.

🗺️ Overhead Site Map – Color Key

  • 🟨 Yellow: Construction Site

This area is strictly off-limits to all students and staff. It is an active construction zone and will be fenced off. No one should enter this area under any circumstances.

  • 🟥 Red: No Parking

These areas are not available for parking. Please help us maintain safe traffic flow and access by keeping these spaces clear.

  • 🔵 Blue: Designated Walking Paths

These are the only approved pedestrian walkways students and staff should use while navigating campus. They are planned to avoid construction zones and ensure safe passage.

  • 🟩 Green: General Student Parking

Students may park in these areas.
Note: The east practice field  parking area can be accessed through the south gate. Please maintain a speed of less than 10 mph and be cautious of pedestrians and other vehicles entering and exiting.
If conditions on the hill become unsafe due to weather or construction, access may be restricted, and overflow will be directed to nearby city street parking (where legal and permitted).

  • 🟧 Orange: Bus Pick-Up and Drop-Off (8th Street)

This area is designated for student transportation access. Students using route buses or shuttles should use the established walking paths to reach this location safely.

🚗 Parking Guidelines

Due to construction and limited space, we kindly ask that students and families limit vehicle use to one vehicle per household when possible. Overflow parking is permitted on city streets as long as all city parking regulations are followed. Unsafe or illegal parking may result in citations from the city.

🚌 Transportation Plan

Route Buses

  • Elementary Students: No changes to pick-up/drop-off locations or times.

  • Junior High and High School Students:

    • Morning: Will be dropped off at the elementary school and then shuttled to the high school on the breakfast bus.

    • Afternoon: Will be shuttled back to the elementary school at the end of 7th hour (3:30 PM) to board their route buses.

Band Students

  • Students eating breakfast at the elementary will remain in the cafeteria until band begins.

  • Students who ride the route bus but do not eat breakfast will wait in the cafeteria until band starts.

  • Students who drive to the high school will be shuttled after the breakfast bus finishes its drop-off. These students should wait in the cafeteria or report directly to the band room if Mrs. Schmidt is present.

  • Important: Junior high and high school students must stay in the cafeteria before band. No hallway access is permitted during this time.

Choir Students

📚 Student Expectations & Communication

We are committed to a safe and productive learning environment for all students. Please help us start strong by reviewing the High School Student Handbook with your child:

📘 Student Handbook (2025-2026)

⏰ Morning Arrival Procedures

All students who do not eat breakfast at the elementary school must report to the high school between 7:30 and 8:05 AM.

  • Students may not arrive earlier than 7:30 AM.

  • Students arriving between 7:30 and 7:45 must go to the ICAN classroom.

  • After 7:45, students will report to a designated class sponsor room until 8:05, when they may proceed to their first-period class.

  • A list of class sponsor assignments will be posted in the hallways by tomorrow morning.

We understand this process may be new to some students, so I will be present tomorrow morning to assist with classroom directions.

🔔 Attendance Matters

Daily attendance plays a critical role in student achievement. Please encourage consistent, on-time attendance. Students who miss school miss out!

📵 Cell Phone Policy

We will continue our no cell phone policy during the school day. Specific guidelines and consequences can be found in the handbook linked above.
