Dear USD 105 Community,
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful start to your summer. While our school buildings are quieter during these months, summer is one of the busiest times of the year for our district as we close out the current fiscal year and prepare for the new year beginning July 1.
Our Summer Food Program is off to a great start, with more than 100 meals served daily since May 26. The program will continue through June 26, after which the kitchen and cafeteria will transition in preparation for the upcoming school year.
If you need to visit the school this summer, please note that the offices in both school buildings will be closed until August. The District Office will remain open and can be accessed through the exterior door on the north playground of the elementary school.
For reference, the north side of the construction project is located north of the existing gym, while the south side is located to the south.
North Side of the Project
Exterior framing for the weight room and band room is nearing completion. Roof installation on the gym is currently underway.
Footings and concrete walls for the new Junior-Senior High School, cafetorium, and District Office are beginning to take shape. Foundation work is expected to be completed this summer, allowing steel installation to begin, which is currently projected for July. Crews are also working on plumbing rough-in in the new kitchen area.
South Side of the Project
Brick installation on the east side of the building began a couple of weeks ago. While the weather has caused some delays, work continues to progress. Once masonry and metal panel installation are complete, window installation will follow.
Mechanical rough-in work is ongoing in the elementary portion of the building, with finish work expected to begin later this summer. It is exciting to see the design plans and renderings come to life.
Existing Gym
Mechanical rough-in is also in progress in the existing gym. Our goal is to have the gym ready for physical education classes and practices by the start of the school year.
AG Shop / New Art Room
Demolition for the new art room has been completed, along with the underground rough-in. Interior framing is currently underway, and mechanical rough-in will begin once framing is complete.
As construction progresses, updates may begin to sound similar as work phases repeat across different areas of the project. However, it is encouraging to see steady progress, with all major areas now underway and some nearing completion.
While delays are always a possibility in a project of this scale, we are approximately one year away from completion.
Thank you for your continued support of USD 105.
Sincerely,
Eric Stoddard
