Dear USD 105 Community,
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. I would like to share an update on the construction progress and include a few photos from the week of March 2. Please note that additional progress has been made since these photos were taken.
For reference, the north side of the project is located north of the existing gym, and the south side is located south of the existing gym.
North Side of the Project
Work on the new gym continues to move forward. All concrete foundation walls have been installed except for the northeast corner and a portion of the interior wall, which has been left open temporarily to allow access to the gym area. The main gym floor slab was poured this week. The slabs for the wrestling room and locker rooms will be poured next, after which the remaining foundation walls will be completed.
Earthmoving crews returned this week to begin backfilling around the gym walls and to start preparing the building pad for the remainder of the north side of the project. Work on the footings in this area is expected to begin later this month.
South Side of the Project
Steel erection on the south side of the project has been completed. The second-floor slab is scheduled to be poured next week, after which work will begin on enclosing the building.
Existing Gym
Asbestos removal is in the final stages of completion. Renovation work will soon begin on the gym, nearby classrooms, and reconnecting plumbing to the locker rooms. This work is scheduled to be completed around the time we return to school in August.
It is exciting to see the continued progress at the construction site. The project is moving forward, and we look forward to watching the new facilities begin to take shape.
Thank you for your continued support of our school district and this important project.
Sincerely,
Eric Stoddard
