Internet Use Agreement

We encourage you to talk to your students regularly about Internet Safety and to supervise their use of the Internet.

Internet Usage Tips for Students:

Never give out personal information such as address, phone number, parents' work numbers or addresses, or your location without your parents' permission.

Tell your parents right away if you come across any information that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Never agree to get together with someone you "meet" online without first asking your parents.

Never send a picture of yourself to someone you met on the internet.

Do not respond to any negative messages that are mean or make you feel uncomfortable.  Tell you parents right away if you receive that kind of message.

Talk with your parents and set up rules for going online.

Internet Usage Tips for Parents:

Just as you inform children about safety issues in dealing with strangers and potentially harmful situations when they are small, you must let them know that there are safety issues when using the internet as well.

Talk to your student and establish basic safety rules for internet usage.  Supervise their internet usage.

Keep track of your child's internet usage and know their passwords.  This is not an intrusion of privacy, it is a tool to help keep them safe.

Use an Internet filtering program or service such as CyberPatrol, Bess, or CYBERsitter, but remember that supervision is still necessary.

Require your student to obtain your permission before downloading anything from the internet.

Set aside Internet usage times.
