OWLS Minutes April 13 2014

OWLS Meeting

April 13, 2015

RCES Library

Present: Mica Johnson, Kathy Davis-Vrbas, Dirk & Aiden Ricker, Diane Montgomery-Cox, Dianne Vap, and Brenda Henry

Treasurer’s Report—Dianne reported a checking account balance of $907.63.

Old Business: Brenda reported that Brittnay Horinek, a RCHS senior, is touching up the OWLS sign for the main entrance to the trail. It should be finished and back in place no later than the middle of May. She shared a copy of the diagram for the guzzlers that Dalton Enfield has drawn up. It was suggested that Dalton contact Vap Construction to see if they have scrap metal sheeting that he can use for the roof. Kathy said that he should round up the materials as part of his Eagle Scout Project. Dalton will attend the next Township Board Meeting on April 20; then, attend the next OWLS Meeting to make a report.

New Business: The committee signed a thank you card for Lori Colgan and Brown’s True Value. Lori donated paint and supplies to cover the graffiti at the nature trail. Between March 16-20, someone painted several trees and the tower with graffiti. Brenda, Aiden and Allison Ricker, and Ethan Drake went down and painted over the graffiti on the tower. Brenda went down later and spray painted over the graffiti on the trees. The incident was reported to the city police department. A spring project will be to give the west side of the sign by the highway another coat of paint. There was discussion on whether to clear the plant debris on the wildflower plot. Brenda will check with Wilda. There was discussion on the condition of the tower and other possible projects. Mica mentioned putting mulch on the black weed barrier by the entrance to the trail. The committee agreed with the project.

The committee will meet again the first part of May when Dalton can attend and give a report on his project.
