Juniors Visit Abilene

Juniors Visit Abilene, KS

Last Monday, November 20 – Tuesday, November 21 the Juniors in American History Class visited Abilene, KS on a field trip. On Monday, the students were able to visit the Seelye Mansion, Museum, and Gardens via a grant from our local Rotary Club. The Seeyle Mansion is a Georgian style Mansion that was built in 1905 by Dr. A.B. Seelye which has 25 rooms and over 11,000 square feet. It is like a time capsule as many of is fixtures and furnishing are original and were purchased at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. A highlight for the kids was getting to bowl on a very original “bowling alley” worth around $1 million dollars. On Tuesday, the Juniors were able to see the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum, and Boyhood home via grants from the Eisenhower and Dane G. Hansen Foundations. The Juniors really had a great time!
