FFA Week

The Atwood FFA Chapter had another fun and successful FFA week this year. FFA week kicked off by attending church with the president Gracyn Higley at Redeemer Lutheran church on Sunday, February 19th. On Monday the FFA held a community breakfast burrito feed in the commons area at the high school. On Monday officers also went to the grade school near the end of the school day to spread the word about FFA to all of the elementary students. We went to every classroom and explained what FFA is, and what we have done in FFA. We also handed out papers for a coloring contest, and informed the grade school students they should wear blue and gold on Wednesday. Then on Tuesday, officers and members wore official dress to school. Later that day, during halftime of the high school varsity boys game we held a fundraiser to raise money for our FFA Chapter. The fundraiser was a “Kiss a Pig Contest” where three people could be nominated to kiss a pig by the community. The nominees for the “Kiss a Pig Contest” were Andrew Melia, Nicholas Bowles, and Brian Withington. We would like to thank the nominees for joining in on this fun activity. On Wednesday some FFA members attended Ag. Mechanics in Goodland. Finally, on Thursday we had “Drive your tractor to school Day” and “Dress up like your favorite farm Animal.” During Activity Period on Thursday, Parker Merz and Cauy Hayes held a fun activity for all high school students to attend. Offices for 2016/2017 school year are President; Gracyn Higley, Vice President; Parker Merz, Secretary; Natalie Hawkins, Treasurer; Mara Hemel, Reporter; Dana Doty, Historian; Brenan Dixon, Sentinel; Cauy Hayes, Parliamentarian; Ryan Wolters, Student Council Rep.; Ashlynn Merz. The FFA officers and members would like to thank everyone who has contributed in making this year a success!
